"Wind River Fly" Oil on board. Steven Vandervate has been painting flies for quite some time. I hooked up (pun intended) with "Van" through a comment on the blog. I visited his site, and was delighted to see the diversity of paintings along with some great fly art. His latest series of ink and colored pencil flies has inspired me to do a few myself. Stop by Van's blog to check out all of his great work!
"Bubble Butt Dry" Ink sketch - Alright, I do not know where this came from! I sat down looked at the paper and this is result. The mind works in strange ways. "Robert's Drake - Do over" Watercolor. After looking at yesterday's Robert's Drake, there were many items I did not like. I have discovered that sometimes I rely on the gouache as a crutch to fill in areas that I made an error in. This time I decided to use nothing but watercolor. Also, the body on the other Drake was too yellow and not enough of the deer hair showed thru. The other thing that was off were the proportions. So I think I corrected them on this version. A more loose interpretation without being overworked.
