"Paper Fly" I was emptying the three hole punch and I ended up making a mess! The way the punches were laying on the floor next to the recycle can kind of resembled a fly. I guess after 302 flies everything looks like a fly! Anyways, I grabbed some of the spent punches and some shredded paper and this was the result.

Connect the dots!
Ron from Rock Creek Cattle Company sent me his connected the dots fly. Those who tried it found that I had some numbering problems between 191 and 199. I think my eyes were going a bit crazy by then. Anyways, here is the note that Ron sent:
It’s a slow day at the office. Temps here in Montana cooling off considerably, no body booked on a fishing trip today so I was perusing the 365 site and said to myself, “Self, here is something you just got to dot.”

Thanks for the busy work. I spent several minutes looking for 191 through 199 but. Too funny."

Caught up!
I took inventory of the completed flies over the weekend and found I was 6 short. Well I made up for the shortage and believe I am now up to date.

"Dandelion Emerger" Charcoal and watercolor. This was an experiment. I started drawing with the charcoal. I then sprayed the charcoal with a fixative so that it would not smear or lift when I applied a watercolor wash. I have never fished these emergers, but they look like they would be an effective midge emerger.

"Sulfur Dun" Watercolor and Sharpie Pen. This fly is dedicated to Darrel Stark. Darrel's friend Jean had requested the fly in an email. Unfortunately Darrel Stark recently passed away. You can read more about Darrel's story here. As Jean put it, Darrel died at the age of 62 of an enlarged heart, the enlarged heart he had for fly fishing, his family and friends.

"P.E.I. Fly" Digital - Illustrator. This is a fly that was done for an upcoming project that I worked on. When I can divulge the details, I will. The following is an account on the details of this fly. It was written by Darren MacEachern for flyangler.ca. I will. There is some confusion surrounding the true name of this fly. J. Edson Leonard's book "Flies" refers to the pattern as the PE Fly named after Prince Edward. The pattern may also be found in Paul Schmookler & Ingrid V. Sils "Forgotten Flies"(p 274, 275) printed as Prince Edward. The Prince Edward or PEI fly was tied originally with feathers from the now endangered Red Ibis. Because of this, I use red Chinese hen Saddle as an acceptable substitute. The PEI Fly is used to target inland Maritime Brook Trout and the St. Lawrence "White Trout".
The PEI fly is featured in Canada Post's 2005 Fishing Flies collection.

"Copper Bob Study" 12" x 16" watercolor. Bob White is the originator of this fly. It is not to be confused with the Copper John. Bob White is an incredible artist and all around great person. I met Bob and his wife Lisa at a trade show a few years back. They are both the most genuine and giving people. If you have not done so, you should sign up for Bob's Thursday Morning Art Review. Every Thursday morning you will receive an email with some great featured artwork and fantastic stories! I will be posting a more refined Copper Bob in the future.

"Chinese Brush Fly 1" 8" x 10" watercolor. My wife suggested I try using a Chinese brush to paint a fly. My Son has a Chinese brush painting kit, so I borrowed his brush to try. You are suppose to use inks ground from these solid chunks that they supply in the kit. I skipped that and used watercolors. Did not come out exactly as planned. Will have to try again.
The Envelope Please....
And the winner for the monthly fly print is..... Bob H. Congrats Bob, I will send you and email with all of the details.
